President and CEO
Floyd studied Metallurgical Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology. He has nearly 50 years experience in the secondary aluminum and steel smelting industries with 30+ years of direct management experience. He held several positions while at US Steel South Works Mill in South Chicago. He started as a material handling foreman in charge of all incoming scrap and raw material by rail, truck and water to the electric arc furnaces. He later served as pit foreman in charge of all steel pouring systems and the vacuum degasser system, and finally as general melting foreman of three 200-ton electric arc furnaces. He was a member of the team that started up US Steel’s first continuous caster unit and the first basic oxygen furnace at South Works. He spent a number of years as operations manager of a secondary aluminum smelter working with an electric induction furnace melting system. More recently, Floyd has served as a metallurgical advisory consultant to companies in the steel and aluminum smelting industry with regard to better melting equipment and techniques as well as the processes needed to produce lower-cost end products.
Chief Financial Officer
Phil received his MBA from the University of Chicago, specializing in accounting and finance. He has extensive experience in developing and implementing comprehensive financial growth strategies for manufacturing and distribution companies. He started his career at Touche Ross & Company where his primary responsibility was the Sears Roebuck and Co. account. He held numerous senior level management positions throughout his career including Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Yoder, Inc., a $60 million agribusiness firm. In 1997, Phil co-founded Schooner Consulting and Management Services where he served as Executive Vice President. Schooner Consulting was created with a mission toward providing comprehensive professional services, primarily to minority and women owned business, which would identify and create new marketing opportunities for companies using supplier diversity as a growth strategy.
DeVaris studied Math and Computer Science at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Prior to joining the Brown Industries advisory team, DeVaris served over 13 years in industry. Mr. Brown has worked at Microsoft, Cisco and Intel improving processes by fostering the development of next generation technologies.
